It’s December and in only a few short weeks, this decade will end and another will begin– presenting us with new opportunities to create and complete this particular arc of our lives.
Endings and beginnings, opportunities and challenges always trigger periods of profound reflection and soul searching. Did the year and decade work out the way you’d hoped or planned? Did you grow and progress in all the ways you’d hoped/foreseen during this tumultuous period? Did you take the actions necessary to bring your hopes, wishes, and dreams to fruition?
2019– a “3” Universal year, called for us to follow through with our commitments by clearly communicating our truth to ourselves and others.
2020– a “4” Universal year and the beginning of a new decade, calls for us to put foundations under the hopes, wishes, and aspirations we’ve nurtured as we continue our 9-year trajectory of completion of this arc. This year, we’re all capable of doing miraculous, empowering deeds and of displaying courage, integrity, and heart. Let’s step up and honor our potential by manifesting that potential into positive reality.
Take a look back at yourself and your 2019 journey. How will you take what you’ve experienced and learned and use it to help make the coming year, 2020 (and decade), the best year(s) ever for yourself, your community, and your world?
Your message this month is in the form of a quote or affirmation. It’s a key that will help you translate your experience of this year. Use it to reflect on your perspective of yourself, your goals, your commitment, and your willingness to ‘show up’ and actively choose and stand for what you believe in.
For all of us:
“I love you, my sister and brother, whoever you are– whether you worship in your church, kneel in your temple, or pray in your mosque. You and I are all children of one faith, for the diverse paths of religion are fingers of the loving hand of one Supreme Being, a hand extended to all, offering completeness of spirit to all, eager to receive all.” Khalil Gibran
“It’s the action, not the fruit of the action, that’s important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there’ll be any fruit. But that doesn’t mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result.” Mahatma Gandhi
“Ask for what you want and let the Universe edit; and then negotiate.” Dr. Patricia Allen and Sheilaa Hite
THE EMPEROR (March 21 – April 20) “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” Albert Einstein
THE EMPRESS (April 21 – May 20) “I do not accept any absolute formulas for living. No preconceived code can see ahead to everything that can happen in a person’s life. As we live, we grow and our beliefs change. They must change. So I think we should live with this constant discovery. We should be open to this adventure in heightened awareness of living. We should stake our whole existence on our willingness to explore and experience.” Martin Buber
THE LOVERS (May 21 – June 20) “Where you are headed is more important than how fast you are going. Rather than always focusing on what’s urgent, learn to focus on what is really important.” Stephen Covey
THE CHARIOT (June 21 – July 20) “Though the seas threaten, they are merciful. I have cursed them without cause.” William Shakespeare
THE SUN (July 21 – August 22) “Some people have thousands of reasons why they cannot do what they want to, when all they need is one reason why they can.” Willis Whitney
THE HERMIT (August 23 – September 22) “Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work, your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen.” Leonardo Da Vinci
JUSTICE (September 23 – October 22) We do not truly serve the world if we give to others but neglect our own truth and our own needs. It’s only when our own needs are fully met that we can generously and whole-heartedly give of ourselves. It’s not selfish to look after ourselves– it’s essential!” Pearl S. Buck
THE MAGICIAN (October 23 – November 21) “One monkey don’t stop no show!” Big Maybelle, American Blues Singer, and “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” Michael Jordan
THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE (November 22 – December 21) “Every person with an ideal faces the danger of being called a fool or a madman. Every great cause must be ushered into the world by a small minority of persons often denounced as ‘crazy.’ Someone said, ‘Nobody can be genuinely in earnest without appearing eccentric in a world where intensity is considered bad form.’” Rev. Paul Osumi
THE WORLD (December 22 – January 19) Life is about 20% in what happens to us and 80% in the way we respond to the events.” Ted Engstrom, and “Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death.” “Auntie Mame” Dennis
THE STAR (January 20 – February 19) “In our society, art has become something which is only related to objects, and not to individuals, or to life… but couldn’t everyone’s life become a work of art? Why should the lamp or the house be an art object, and not our lives?” Michael Foucault
THE MOON (February 20 – March 20) On perception and stress– “Rule 1. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Rule 2. It’s all small stuff. Rule 3. If you can’t fight or flee, then flow.” The Times of India
